Len has over 45 years of experience in the commercial and industrial building industry involving design, construction, operations, and maintenance.
Len had a varied 25-year career with BC Telecom (now Telus Corporation) and was responsible for their building and real estate division for North America. His overall knowledge of building design and construction as well as operations and maintenance provides him a unique insight into identifying energy improvement opportunities beyond his lighting specialty.
Most recently, Len has directed research projects for the National Research Council in the development of lighting requirements for the NECB (National Energy Code for Buildings), which involved collaboration with the working group in the United States to develop the equivalent lighting guidelines for the edition of latest ASHRAE 90.1. Both of these standards are referenced as design requirements by the BC Building Code. He is currently working with the lighting technical committee of the ASHRAE 90.1 as a consultant on their next round of exterior lighting guidelines.
Len also volunteers his services and serves on advisory boards and committees for various organizations such as BOMA BC and the New York Institute of Technology. Len is also a CSA member and serves on a number of CSA Technical Committees on building energy efficiency and Canadian Lighting Standards.
